Private cloud is a virtual cloud platform dedicated for a single client. It combines several of the advantages of cloud computing such as ease of provisioning, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness with the higher availability, control, and reliability of on-demand infrastructure. However, one should not mistake this type of cloud service for an alternative form of file sharing or file storage; as a public cloud does not have the same features as private cloud servers.

Since these types of services reside on the infrastructure of a third-party provider, there is no need for an administrator to provide any software or hardware to his clients. Because the storage is located on the provider’s own servers, no administrator is required. Since the management of the private cloud services resides on another company’s infrastructure, no information is provided to third parties.
